Lavea Iosefa Maiava (born 1956 in Apia, Samoa) is the United Nations Head of Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific (UN-ESCAP) Pacific Office.
Maiava graduated from the Australian National University with a Master of International Relations.
Maiava served as Deputy Secretary General to the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat in Suva, Fiji, since 1999. He resigned to take up a new post as Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Trade for the Government of Nauru under PRAN – the Pacific Regional Assistance to Nauru in 2007.
Maiava was then appointed by United Nations as the Head of UN-ESCAP in 2008. He has been promoting ‘Green Growth’ in the Asia/Pacific region since 2010
