  • Joined Russell McVeagh as a solicitor, specializing in the practice areas of corporate and commercial law. Later moved to England where he worked for Bankers Trust as a Financial Analyst
  • Moved to Sydney, Australia where he became an Executive consultant with Macquarie Bank
  • 2007 – Living in Auckland, New Zealand – elected as Councillor to the Tamaki-Maungakiekie seat on the Auckland City Council and was appointed as Chairman of the City Development Committee. Later resigned his council post in 2009
  • First elected to the New Zealand Parliament as a National MP in 2008, winning the Maungakiekie seat that had been vacated by well-respected and former Samoan Labour Party MP – Vui Mark Gosche
  • 2011 – Up for re-election and won the Maungakiekie seat for a second term

  • 2014 – Sworn in as Minister of Pacific Island Affairs and Associate Minister of Local Government
  • 2017 – Joined Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) as the Deputy Chief Executive Pasifika on September 25, 2017.
